Problems arise when extremely large collections of goods are received into a single item tracking lot (received on one purchase agreement line) and sold in many small portions. Such large lots have been known to cause problems when they need to be partially credited or adjusted, involve loss of transparency in various analysis and delays when it comes to the G/L reflecting actual COGS for sold items.

The action Creation of Multiple Item Lines allows the user to split large batches of goods to be received into multiple receiving agreement lines and thus post smaller quantities into a number of reasonably sized traceable item tracking lots.

Make sure that the lines have not been filled out yet. Click Actions > General > Creation of Multiple Item Lines.

A new page opens that has all the same fields as the receiving agreement lines has. Start by entering the basic information about Item No., Location, etc. (as is would normally be entered in an agreement line). The No. of Lines to Create field is where the user inserts the amount of lines that should be created in the Receipt Agreement lines.

Note that if the Container Unit of Measure as been defined in the item's unit of measure setup, then the system suggest the No. of Pallets Per Line that would fill one container. The No. of Pallets Per Line can be manually adjusted each time.

The system then confirms that the lines were created successfully.
